Exeter Graphic Design Agency for Brands That Do Good | Carma Creative

We hit the weather jackpot on this January shoot with model, artist, illustrator, stylist and all round good creative egg Zephy Rose. A deluge of non-stop rain pummelled the car on the entire journey from Exeter to Plymouth. However, 10 minutes after arriving at Devon’s ‘second city’, the skies cleared gifting us perfect Wintry afternoon light.

The immediate goal was to take images for Zephy’s portfolio and I was keen to capture some creative portrait images, as well as bonus images for double exposure compositions. Zephy had the most amazing galaxy themed nail art, which gave me the inspiration to sprinkle a little bit of intergalactic magic into some of the images.

First stop was the grand Royal William Yard. There are plenty of great locations within this former key Royal Navy depot. Magnificent Grade I and Grade II listed buildings built from Devon limestone and granite. Doorways, archways, a tunnel, an old telephone box, all of great character and not forgetting the uber cool staircase that links RWY to the Coast Path.

Then it was on to Tinside Lido, a glorious art-deco style outdoor pool built in 1935. It was closed, being out of season, which gave the pool an atmospheric and slightly abandoned look about it. Certainly a lot of sand had washed into the pool and it had been weathered by the sea during the stormy winter.
